Typical Total Auto Kinda Day

So what’s it like on the shop floor dealing with classic and American cars on a typical day at Total Auto?

Most of our customers and suppliers will agree its always interesting to come down to the Total Auto workshop and seeing what’s going on. We always have something interesting happening. Whilst everyday sees a steady flow of regular cars and vans coming through the workshop for routine servicing and repairs, one of the team at least is usually beavering away fixing or working on a classic car or American car.

Take this slightly overcast day in February. Whilst it was all hands to pumps getting a Citroen timing belt done and a couple of services, squeaky auxillary belt and refitting injectors on a Corsavan done. Its soon moved on to some interesting work on a couple of ongoing projects which we want to get up for sale. Our 1987 Pontiac Trans AM needed some sill repairs after an historic wrong jacking point incident. Our 1980 Trans AM went out for a Test Drive with a prospective new owner. We’ve also been working on a near full restoration for some time on a second generation Chevrolet Camaro that has included new crate engine and a full interior classic car restoration. In the last couple of days, one of the mechanics has been tasked with working his way through a long time resident 1977 Corvette, getting the engine running, working on the headlamp vacumn lines and checking the electrical features ahead of a cosmetic restoration. The workshop has been alive with the sound of grinders, welders, easy start engines and busy technicians calling to one another for help checking lights, tools and fetching the jump pack!

All good fun!
